FEATURING MUFFIN THE MULE!

Just opened!

This new exhibition at Seven Stories celebrates the work of Betty Larom and Neville Main – famous for their comic art, nostalgic illustrations and, as of 2022, featuring in British fashion designer Molly Goddard’s AW22 Collection (as worn by Harry Styles in the ‘Boyfriends’ music video in June 2022).

Neville Main (1913-1994), Betty’s second husband, was a comic artist. He illustrated books and comics including comic strip booklets featuring his own character ‘Jimmy’, from 1948 to 1958. When TVComic began in 1951, he wrote and illustrated Muffin the Mule in its pages for 10 years and his work appeared in nearly every weekly issue.

Wendy Elliott, CEO at Seven Stories, said:

“The newest exhibition at Seven Stories showcases a really exciting time in children’s literature, and two prolific artists who had a significant impact in the field. Betty Larom and Neville Main’s post-war stories and art influenced decades of artists.”
